Yet, many cities struggle on how to include health, mental health, and psychological resilience in their climate adaptation plans.
A group of organizations, including ISUH, Billion Minds Institute, and the Wellesley Institute, is working to fill this gap. They're collaborating with ICLEI, a global network of over 1100 municipal leaders active in 125+ countries, to develop guidelines that will help cities integrate psychological resilience into their climate adaptation strategies. This initiative is part of a broader "roadmap" strategy launched at COP28 in partnership with the UNFCCC champions team.
As part of this initiative, Billion Minds is hosting focus groups at ICUH 2024 to gather insights and recommendations on how to strengthen community and psychological resilience in the face of climate change. We invite ICUH attendees with expertise in public health, mental health, urban planning, or climate science to join these by emailing skasle@isuh.org to express interest.
