Welcome Reception
Monday November 18, 2024 19:00 - 21:00 GMT+01
Join us as we officially launch the 20th annual International Conference on Urban Health with a special reception in the heart of Marrakesh. This year’s conference opens with a focus on one of the most urgent global challenges: addressing urban health in the face of climate change. The evening will feature remarks from key government partners, including the Mayor of Marrakesh, Fatima-Zahra El Mansouri, representing our host city, alongside representatives from the Moroccan Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Ministry of Environment.

We will also hear from our academic co-hosts, the Mohammed VI School of Public Health, and our featured research partners, ISGlobal. The event includes video messages from the heads of the World Health Organization (WHO) and UN-Habitat, as well as remarks from their high-level representatives. Our local NGO partners, including the High Atlas Foundation and Youth for Climate Morocco, alongside regional partners Break the Cycle Africa, UCLG Africa, and the Centre for African Public Spaces, will underscore the critical importance of developing resilient, equitable urban health solutions in the face of accelerating climate impacts.

This reception offers an unparalleled opportunity to engage with influential leaders and key partners shaping the future of urban health and climate action across Africa and around the world.

Join us for drinks, canapes, and traditional Moroccan entertainment in a beautiful space in the heart of the Medina. As dinnertime is typically quite late in Marrakesh, we offer this reception as a precursor to dinner, for which we encourage you to go out and explore the rich and flavorful offerings of the old city.
